After selling through our initial pitch, Florida Medical Center tasked David’s team with developing innovative throughput solutions that would positively impact clinical outcomes for patients, their families, and the staff’s experience in the emergency department and inpatient rooms.
David’s team crafted a holistic representation of the department’s current state by utilizing real-time location tracking, noise management assessment, spatial analysis, and experience flow mapping to help drive a common understanding that supports the development of future solutions. The financial assessment model calculated a faster rate of ROI than FMC had forecasted with their prior plans and nearly $8 million in savings over 5 years with our ED redesign. The team delivered an improved Architectural Master Plan for the ED expansion; a report of the improved patient, staff, and physician experience via throughput metrics; substantially lowered noise levels; and a customized time management tool that tracks a patient’s throughput. Additionally, David’s team researched and developed concepts for all inpatient spaces as well as an analysis of discharge times.
